Here are some of the ways teachers can use Bookopolis in their class to help students track their reading, practice opinion writing, and discover great new books.

Online Reading Log
Reading Log
Track daily reading with the Bookopolis Reading Log. Students enter in date read, pages read, and minutes read. They can enter in books that are on their “Currently Reading” shelf in Bookopolis or they can choose “Newspaper, Magazine, or Other” if their daily reading came from one of these formats. They have the option to add a comment to their daily log, too. Teachers can give specific instructions on what type of comments they want tied into current lessons (e.g. Brainstorm character traits, Identify themes or morals, Identify conflicts.)
Write Book Reviews & Book Reports
Book Reviews
Students can practice opinion writing by adding reviews of books they read. See here for our tips on writing good reviews.
To add a review, first add a book to your “Already Read It Shelf” Click on the book cover and then enter your review under “My Review.” Don’t forget to add a star rating, too.
You can edit or add a review at any time by going to My Books and clicking on the Book Cover from the book on one of your shelves.
Students earn 10 Bookopolis points for every review they add and 5 Points for every star rating they complete.
Book Reports
Online book reports are another great tool to let students’ practice writing, typing, and comprehension skills. Students also love that they earn 20 Bookopolis points for every report they write!
To add a book report, first add a book to your “Already Read It” shelf. Click on the book cover and then select the 2nd tab titled “Report.” Enter your answers to the four basic questions shown here and click save at the bottom of the screen. (Note to teachers: new leveled questions to encourage kids to go deeper will be added soon!)
You can edit or add a book report at any time by going to My Books and clicking on the Book Cover from the book on one of your shelves.

Find New Books – Reader Picks
Finding the book that hooks is a huge factor in helping a student become a lifelong reader. We work with a team of librarians, teachers, and booksellers who are avid kidlit readers to curate a list of new books by age group – Early Readers (grades 1-3), Older Readers (grades 3-6), and Middle School Readers (grades 6-8.)
Explore our Find New Books section with your students and read reviews from other kids as well as parents and teachers. You’ll find curated Bookopolis Picks, Award Winners, Common Core Aligned books, and Readers Also Liked selections.
