ELA Lesson: Build Your “Want to Read” Shelf

When students know what book they want to read next, they tend to read more. But, most students don’t take the time to build out a “TBR” list like many enthusiastic adult readers do.

A fun and engaging way to do this with students is to have them add books to their virtual “Want to Read” shelf in Bookopolis. This is a great activity to do at the beginning of a school year or at the end of the year to prepare for summer reading.

They can search for titles they’ve heard about from their peers or explore our curated book lists. They can also look at books that have been “Recommended to Me” by their classmates. Click on a cover to read a summary and check out kid reviews.

Bookopolis is a free edtech tool. Educators can create a free “teacher” account and then set up accounts for students. Learn more.
